System offline after install

Oct 19, 2010 at 3:27 PM

I have installed uManage and followed the installer and all seems to be fine, but on comlpeting the installer the system is stuck in offline mode.

Is there any way i can override this setting?

The system will only go into offline mode if the installer fails to configure the system properly.  Otherwise it should load up normally.  Check your web.config settings to see if the system setup the database provider and the membership provider section is encrypted.  Also check your database to see if any tables were created, if not it’s possible the system failed when running the SQL script to install your database.

Reference the manual installation documentation to ensure everything is setup properly and then remove the App_Offline.htm page from the root of the web directory.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

THanks for the prompt reply.

The tables are definitely there, I have this string

    <add name="AppService" connectionString="Data Source=vsvr-sql01;Initial Catalog=uManage-ad.tuispecialist.c;User Id=svc.umanage;Password=xxxxxxxx;MultipleActiveResultSets=true;" Name="System.Data.SqlClient" />

The membership provider section seems to be there as well.

    <membership configProtectionProvider="DataProtectionConfigurationProvider">
          <CipherValue> ---DELETED---</CipherValue>

Can you link the manual installation documentation, I have used all the info and more from the Documentation tab at the top of this page.

Line 8:      <clear />
Line 9:      <add name="ADService" connectionString="ldap://" />
Line 10:     <add name="AppService" connectionString="Data Source=vsvr-sql01;Initial Catalog=uManage-ad.tuispecialist.c;User Id=svc.umanage;Password=xxxxxxxx;MultipleActiveResultSets=true;" Name="System.Data.SqlClient" />
Line 11:   </connectionStrings>
Line 12:   <appSettings>

The above is the error I am getting unrecognised attribute "Name"

I am updating as I troubleshoot here so forgive me if this is a bit garbled, hopefully it is of use to others:

I removed the end of the line above which had the following code in it:

This then led me to the unrecgnised domain name format error, so i changed:

    <add name="ADService" connectionString="ldap://" />

to be:

    <add name="ADService" connectionString="LDAP://" />

This then leaves me with the following error...

Server Error in '/' Application.

Yea, this is a fun error.  The post prior to yours ended up with the same problem.  Did you download the stable release or a build of the source?

I am hoping I can put in some time this week to really get the next release available which fixes a lot of these communication problems, just trying to find the time.

I downloaded this today from the downloads page so I assume it is the stable release. It was from the recommended download link.

Morning all,

Appreciate that you are only 1 person, but I have seen you in other posts mentioning that there is a release that fixes a few issues.

Is this one of the issues that is fixed? If it is not can you give any clue at where I should start looking to resolve this error?
